Yokohama Country & Athletic Club was originally established as Yokohama Cricket Club in 1868. The Club was founded by Mr. J.P. Mollison who was a British merchant when the Japanese Government opened up foreign trade. YC&AC founded many western sports in Japan including Cricket, Rugby, Soccer, Field Hockey, and Baseball.
In 1912, YC&AC moved to its present location on top of the hill above JR Yamate Station. Today, the club offers 7 tennis courts, 2 squash courts, gymnasium, lawn bowling green, alley bowling, billiards room, 25 meter outdoor swimming pool, and a large field for Rugby, Soccer, Cricket, and Baseball is played. All Day Dining Restaurant, Members Bar, Sports Bar, and small banqueting rooms are also available for the members to enjoy.
